At Toolhouse, copywriters take a leading role in developing expertise around our clients’ products and the markets they serve. They transform clinical information into compelling messages and work alongside designers to help set the direction of our digital projects—from initial creative concepts to full implementation.
Our work includes websites, web applications, mobile applications, email marketing, online articles, social posts, streaming videos and animation. We strive to establish smart, creative approaches for each assignment and we believe that UX is everyone’s job.
Being successful in this role requires working collaboratively in cross-disciplinary teams alongside strategists, account directors, project managers, designers and developers.

This role requires a deep passion for writing and for using words as an art form. Successful candidates will need to demonstrate expertise in writing for the specific demands of digital media.


Required Skills

  • Ability to write in a variety of styles for diverse audiences, easily adapting your voice and tone to each project
  • Adept at understanding the relationship between textual and visual elements to ensure that the words and images used in creative complement each other
  • Comfort with moving between short- and long-form copy
  • A bias towards brevity, with the understanding that many digital readers have shorter attention spans and limited time
  • Ability to acutely listen and source credible information for use in crafting copy that delivers on client/project strategy
  • Proficiency with creating content organizational structures and holistic content strategies
  • Ability to establish and document guidelines for editorial tone, style and voice of all written content 
  • Strong copy editing and proofing skills with accurate attention to small details in both copy documents and designs
  • Capable of creating work for Medical/Legal/Regulatory review that achieves our client’s objectives (the markets we serve are heavily regulated)
  • Successfully communicate conceptual ideas and rationale, both verbally and in writing

Qualifications

  • A creative portfolio demonstrating range of simple to more complex creative work, including ideation.
  •  3+ years working in a copywriter capacity (preferably with some agency or client services experience).
  • Strong communication skills (internal and external audiences).
  • Experience in successfully presenting your work to stakeholders and working with diverse sets of feedback.
  • Proven ability to self-manage and stay on top of details across multiple projects.
  • Ability to quickly synthesize data and business requirements to make more informed decisions. 
  • Demonstrated ability for continuous learning in the field of digital marketing and digital product development.
